About Cheryl Dooley

Cheryl moved to the outskirts of Coffs Harbour, NSW in early 2000. Joining the local WIRES, (NSW Wildlife Information & Rescue Service), Branch in 2000, Cheryl became involved in branch administration, as well as wildlife care and quickly moved from macropod care to Macropod Support Team Member, (specialising in eastern greys), to Macropod Coordinator.

Cheryl has been training adults since the late 1970s and has written two non-fiction books and hundreds of articles, so seeing the need for an updated care manual that was accessible to all, Cheryl set about putting one together.

Macropology is the result. The current edition, finalised in July 2004, contains almost 53,000 words, many photographs, useful charts and tables and a reference guide that links you to more publications on macropod care.

Gaining a copy of Macropology

This manual has been created to assist licensed wildlife carers. It is illegal to raise a native animal, in most places, unless you are licensed, so please ensure you are not working outside the law. You may not care about the law, but please care about the joey - most need to be buddied and raised in very specific circumstances to ensure their successful release. They aren't pets or toys so please respect their right to a safe and fear free environment to be raised in, and the opportunity for a long life in the wild.

The manual is copyright Cheryl Dooley, 2004. You may print one copy of this manual for your personal use only. You may not manipulate it in any way. The document is in PDF format, which you can read with an Adobe Acrobat Reader.  It is a large manual, (142 pages with lots of photographs). 4.8mb in size.
