Many breeds
carrying unique genetic potential are currently in small
numbers across the world and the opportunity to import via
South Africa over the last 12 years has led to nucleus
breeding groups of a range of breeds being established in
Australia. Most of these sheep breeds are indigenous to
South Africa while others have been developed using South
African breeds. Several remnant British breeds are also on
the endangered list and being preserved by small team of
dedicated breeders in Australia.
Several groups of
special interest sheep types are also kept for display and
educational purposes.
Some of the
breeding units will remain at the Parilla property while the
Canterbury Park Farm undergoes further development.
