WHITE DORPER SHEEP BREEDERS

Flock No WD31 First registered in 1998

Fullblood Stud1 Fullblood Stud 2 RAM SALES   CURRENT STUD SIRES Commercial sheep

Initially established as the Parilla Stud with importations in 1998 from Dries Wiese the flock was absorbed into the development of the Saltbush  Breeding flock WD 21 (est. 1997)

The flock was re-established in late  2005 with the purchase by Denis & Bronwin Russell of a number of the original import Parilla ewes and some Mature Saltbush ewes - Mating for the 2006 year consisted of Saltbush sires and continues with AI semen sires and the introduction of selected cleanskin rams meeting the aims of the breed development for self replacing prime lamb production in all climatic zones.

In 2010 the bloodlines of the flock are quite diverse with the introduction of three outside sires in the past five years, an AI program and the retention of some original Saltbush bloodline sires.

The main focus of the stud is to provide clean shedding, early maturing prime lamb sires to the lower rainfall grazing country with selection criteria based on production characteristics suited to that environment.

As commercial producers running 2000 ewes it is essential to ensure that our stud breeding stock produce types that meet the Australian prime lamb specification for domestic and export markets.  All our prime lamb production is sold over hooks with valuable feedback data that is taken into consideration when making stud breeding decisions.
