Community

Zarephath Wines has been developed and is operated by members of The Christ Circle, an independent monastic community. The Community is composed of professed members ( men and women) who follow a modified Benedictine Rule. All material goods are held in common, and each individual is encouraged to seek fulfilment through service to others. This can take the form of working within a Community business, or pursuing vocational interests that include a service component. The vineyard and wine production business activities are the focus of the Community's work activity, and provide a unique outlet for collective creative expression.

Work is but the outer manifestation of an inner life. Reading and prayer are also part of the regular life of the Community, and are fundamental to its well-being. They are the roots of the vine, invisible, but essential to growth.The library consists of titles on a wide range of subjects, and there is a steady stream of new reading material being acquired and consumed. A daily office forms part of the regular routine, and individual meditation and contemplation are encouraged.

The Christ Circle is independent of any institutional authority. The Community recognises a common thread throughout all of the major religions, which is trancendant and omnipresent.
